An important investment or gift. How can you make it last as long as possible?
Is a drone forever? Yes and no.
A multicopter is a sophisticated piece of high engineering, suited to a great many uses, not only for hobbyists but above all for professionals. But it is also very delicate, and to make it last as long as possible you need to be careful and take good care of it.
If you have one, or if you are thinking of giving one to an enthusiast or to someone who might need it for professional purposes (archaeologists, journalists, photographers, surveyors, architects, engineers, etc.), it is worth recommending that whoever will use it take a SAPR course in order to:
This will ensure the maintenance of minimum safety requirements and keep you from incurring penalties. And of course it will allow you to run as few risks as possible regarding the life of the drone itself. Then, there are other small tricks and basic rules to follow:
To give your drone the longest possible life and functionality, it is important to look at the assemblers and the company that makes it.
It is important to be sure that they do not skimp on costs or on the quality of the materials.
Poorly made soldering, propellers made of low-quality material, motors mounted too hastily are small details that you might not notice at the time of purchase and during the first flights, but that could show up within a short time.
There are different types at different prices. The Mars, those with the best value for money, are equipped with a spring for rapid opening. They perform optimally in protecting your multicopter from ground impacts, while being less expensive than the FruitChutes, excellent, with a CO2 system for very fast deployment but with prices close to 500 dollars.
(If you need advice or maintenance, or if you are thinking of buying a "safe" and certified drone, contact us and/or take a look at our products as well).
If the assembling and manufacturing company is a good one (if it produces ENAC-certified drones it probably is), it is useful to rely on it for maintenance, to replace small parts and to ask for advice. Ideally, you should be followed step by step, at every stage of your multicopter's life, by the same company.
But unfortunately this is sometimes not possible. In these cases, rely on specialist sites or forums on the subject (obviously not Yahoo Answers).
The more serious companies, among them Aerialclick, are often willing and able to give advice and remote support.
And you, would you give a drone as a gift? Or first, rather, a SAPR course to fly them safely and in compliance with the rules?
