Frequently asked questions
The questions you ask us most often
Short answers, updated to September 2026. Flight rules change: for special cases the official sources of ENAC (the Italian civil aviation authority) and EASA (the European Union Aviation Safety Agency) prevail. Can't find your question? Write to us.
Regulations and licences
Do I need to register on d-flight?
Yes, in most cases. Registration as a UAS operator (unmanned aircraft systems, i.e. drones) on d-flight.it is mandatory if your drone weighs 250 g or more, or if it has a camera or sensor capable of collecting personal data (almost all drones with a camera, even under 250 g). Toys are excluded. After registering you receive an operator code to apply to the drone, also via the d-flight QR code.
Do I need a licence for a drone under 250 grams?
For class C0 drones (or under 250 g with no class) no certificate is required: just read the manufacturer's manual. Registration on d-flight remains mandatory if the drone has a camera, and you must follow the rules of the Open category (visual line of sight, maximum height of 120 m, permitted zones). Taking the A1/A3 course is still useful for flying with confidence.
What are classes C0, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and C6?
They are the drone marking classes set out in EU Regulation 2019/945. In brief:
- C0: under 250 g;
- C1: under 900 g;
- C2: under 4 kg;
- C3 and C4: under 25 kg;
- C5 and C6: drones for the STS standard scenarios of the Specific category.
The class determines where you can fly and which certificate you need. You can find it on each drone's product page.
What is the difference between A1, A2 and A3?
They are the subcategories of the Open category:
- A1: you can fly over uninvolved people (but not over crowds) with C0 drones, and with C1 drones while avoiding flying over them;
- A2: flights close to people, down to 30 m (5 m in low-speed mode) with C2 drones;
- A3: flights far from people and built-up areas, for heavier drones.
How do I get the A1/A3 licence?
You complete online training and pass a multiple-choice theory exam on the ENAC portal. The certificate is valid for 5 years. With our A1/A3 course you arrive at the exam well prepared: you can find dates and locations at corsi.aerialclick.com.
When do I need the A2 licence and when the STS?
The A2 is required to fly C2 drones close to people: it requires the A1/A3, a self-declared practical training and an additional theory exam. The STS is required to operate in the standard scenarios of the Specific category (C5 and C6 drones, for example in urban areas or beyond visual line of sight with observers): it requires a theory exam and certified practical training. We offer A2 and STS courses: see the calendar.
What is Remote ID and does my drone need it?
Remote ID is a system that broadcasts the operator's identifier and the drone's position during flight. It is mandatory for class C1, C2, C3, C5 and C6 drones, which already have it built in: just enter your d-flight operator code in the drone's app. For drones without a class or home-built drones the rules differ: ask us and we will check your case.
Do I need insurance to fly?
Yes. The ENAC UAS-IT Regulation requires third-party liability insurance for drone operations, even for recreational use. For professional use, coverage limits suited to the activity are required. Before flying, check that the policy covers your drone and the type of operations you carry out.
Can I still buy and use a DJI drone in Italy?
Yes. The restrictions decided in the United States at the end of 2025 concern the American market. In Italy and the EU, DJI drones are sold and used regularly, in compliance with European rules. If you work with public administration or on critical infrastructure and need alternatives, we also handle other brands: let's talk.
Orders, shipping and payments
How much does shipping cost and how long does it take?
Express courier costs €9.90 and is free for orders of €1,000 or more. Available products usually ship within 2 working days of payment and arrive in 24/48 working hours. You can also pick up for free at our shop in Brindisi. Details in Shipping and delivery.
Can I pick up my order at the shop in Brindisi?
Yes, for free. In the cart choose “Pickup at the Brindisi shop”. When the order is ready we notify you by email and you come by Via Porta Lecce 128 during opening hours, with your order number.
Do I have to register to buy?
No. You can buy as a guest: all you need is an email. You receive the order confirmation with a link to a page where you can follow status and tracking.
How can I pay? Can I pay in instalments?
You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay via Stripe, by bank transfer, or in instalments with external financing, subject to approval by the finance company. We do not accept cash on delivery. All in Payments.
Do you issue electronic invoices to companies and professionals?
Yes. At checkout enter company name, VAT number and SDI code or PEC. We issue the electronic invoice. Private individuals can request an invoice with their tax code.
How do I return a product?
If you are a consumer you have 14 days from delivery. Go to Withdraw from the contract here, enter your name, order number and email: you immediately receive a receipt. Then we send you the return instructions. Read Returns and refunds.
Warranty and repairs
What warranty do the products have?
If you are a consumer, all products have the 24-month legal warranty of conformity from delivery, for which we are responsible. It is in addition to the manufacturer's warranty. Read the Warranty page.
The drone crashed: does the warranty cover it? Is DJI Care worth it?
The legal warranty covers defects, not accidents such as drops, impacts or water. For these there are plans like DJI Care Refresh, which also cover accidental damage within the limits and costs set by DJI. They must be activated within specific time limits from purchase or from activating the drone: if you're interested, ask us when you buy.
How do I get my drone repaired?
Open a case on the support portal: describe the problem and we'll tell you how to ship the drone or bring it to our site in Brindisi. The workshop runs the diagnosis and, if the fault is not covered by warranty, sends you a quote. We only proceed with your approval, and you can follow the case online.
Courses and agricultural drones
Where are the courses held and how do I enrol?
We run A1/A3, A2 and STS courses at our locations in Brindisi, Calatabiano (CT) and Potenza. Schedule, available places and enrolment are on corsi.aerialclick.com.
Can I carry out plant protection treatments with an agricultural drone?
Not yet on a routine basis. Law 182/2025 provides for a trial of drone-based plant protection treatments, but as of September 2026 the implementing decree is not yet operational. Today, agricultural drones are used for multispectral mapping and, with the required authorisations, for spreading fertilisers, seeds and beneficial insects. Operations with agricultural drones generally fall under the Specific category. We can help you understand what you can do in your case.
