Which frame should you choose to build your quadcopter?

Choosing a good frame is the foundation of a good flight

The first drones had very simple frames, mostly four arms connected to a central plate. It was the late 2000s and drone experiments were in their infancy.

Back then a drone's flight time was just a few minutes and crashes were an everyday occurrence.

Today, thanks to new technologies and the use of innovative materials, frames can be not only light but also very strong, easy to maintain and good-looking.

Which frames are most widely used today?

Thanks to the progress of science and technology, an incredible number of materials have also appeared in drone frames. Today, for example, different materials are used to achieve results that were unthinkable just a few years ago:

• Aluminium frames, very often two plates connected by rectangular tubes (also in aluminium). A very simple solution, but very fragile in the event of a violent impact.
• Fibreglass frames connected to aluminium tubes with rectangular and/or cylindrical sections. It is an affordable and durable solution, with the advantage of allowing slightly more complex shapes.
• Carbon fibre frames with aluminium tubes, the solution adopted by Drone Hunter, which provides exceptional lightness, incredible strength and easy assembly.
• Perspex frames with aluminium tubes, the solution adopted by Drone Hunter basic, ideal for those who want to start flying a drone without worrying about breaking some components. Perspex frames are in fact inexpensive, light and easy to replace.

Why is it worth using our frames to fly?

Because, thanks to the space and volume available, they give you long flight time and the ability to customise your drone. Are you interested, for example, in mounting NAZA or Arducopter electronics? With our frames you can do it without any complications and without struggling with cramped spaces and little room to manoeuvre.

Plus, you can relax! The polycarbonate canopy (the same material used by commercial aircraft and helicopters) will protect your electronics in case of an accident.

The distinctive spherical shape distributes the force of an impact across the drone's outer elements… the result? Your electronics (the most expensive part of your drone) will be safe and sound, you'll be happy not to have lost hundreds of euros, and your drone will be ready to fly again!

Until the next flight!
