Are you a photographer, a surveyor or an engineer and do you want to grow your business through the use of drones but are afraid of flying them?
Follow me and I will show you how flying a drone today is more intuitive than you might think and does not require great skills.
Keep in mind the words “flight modes” and flying your next drone will be a piece of cake!
Today on the market you can find different types of drones: some small, others larger, some with very simple electronics that are hard to fly, others technologically very complex but at the same time easy to use.
As you well know, flying a drone is very often no walk in the park. It normally takes months and years of experience, courses, “accidents”, hard landings… in short, a long road!
And this is where advanced electronics comes into play! Thanks to new technologies you can learn to fly a drone in just a few hours and with a number of hard landings close to zero!
Flight modes are automatic ways to fly in complete safety. Some electronics have few of them (see the basic NAZA series), others have a huge number (such as APM electronics). Let's look together at 5 flight modes that will help you fly the drone without complicating your life.
“Stabilized” mode: this is the main flight mode for flying a drone, and at the same time the most difficult to handle. In this mode the pilot must control every aspect of the flight, from altitude to roll, from the drone's position to the motor throttle.
“Altitude hold” mode: this is the mode used by those who want to fly a drone intuitively while correcting for atmospheric effects (first of all wind). In this mode the drone keeps its altitude fixed while the pilot controls it on the horizontal plane. The drone behaves a bit like a radio-controlled toy car located at a certain height above the ground.
“Loiter” mode: it is like altitude hold but it also responds to atmospheric inputs. If there is wind from the left, the drone will resist the wind, tending to hold the same position. In our opinion it is the best mode for flying and for making sure the drone does not drift off on its own in gusty wind.
“RTL” mode: RTL stands for “return to launch” and means coming back home. A very useful flight mode, it is used to recover your drone when you no longer know where it is or if you have lost visual contact with it. A single input and... voilà, your drone comes back home like Lassie.
“Land” mode: as the word itself says, a reliable way to land in complete safety. Don't feel up to landing manually yet? With a single click your drone takes control and lands by itself. Convenient, easy, fast and intuitive.
By flying with these modes you can not only be sure of bringing your drone home safe and sound but, very importantly, you can also shoot stable, professional footage from above.
I recommend trying the advantages of Drone Hunter, a drone that incorporates not only all the flight modes mentioned above, but adds others to fly the drone in an even more intuitive way (in an upcoming article we will talk about the simple and super simple modes that make flying even more comfortable).
Only in this way can you be sure of bringing your drone home and your clients of receiving a professional aerial service with high added value!
Until the next flight!
