Professional drones represent a true revolution of recent times, excellent and cutting-edge tools for carrying out surveys and filming remotely.
The aerial filming drone can be a work tool for everyone, since the use of this extraordinary aircraft has moved from a strictly military one to one aimed at an unimaginable variety of fields.
Equipped with HD cameras and GPS navigation, which allow them to fly, record and be located remotely, the use of drones is becoming more and more frequent just about everywhere.
Of course, to earn money with drones you need to take certain factors into account and take precise precautions when choosing and using them. It is not something complicated, but it is not that simple either, otherwise everyone would already have made the most of drones and their value would no longer be so precious and unique, let's say so niche.
So here is what NOT to do:
1. Carrying out aerial photogrammetric surveys without the skills
Professional drones have become part of some aspects of our lives, and aerial photogrammetric surveys are no exception.
Carrying out surveys is not something you can improvise.
You need the right equipment, good technical knowledge, and experience: these are the aspects that make the difference between “being a professional” and hiring a professional.
2. Operating without knowing the secrets of drone surveys
Doing drone surveys, as seen, is one of the best ways to earn money with drones.
You identify the area to be surveyed and plan the flight operations, precisely choosing the take-off and landing points of the aircraft.
Carrying out surveys at their best also means checking for obstacles to flight by designing any automatic programmed flight missions using specific tools with dedicated mission planner software.
The topographic measurements to be taken on the ground to support the aerial photogrammetric survey are also planned.
3. Using a random drone to shoot aerial footage
Phantom 4 RTK + D-RTK 2 Mobile Station + PC GS PRO is one of the best remote survey tools you can use…you can get real-time centimeter-level positioning for better accuracy on the image metadata.
The Phantom 4 Pro V2 also boasts extraordinary features for carrying out surveys with the drone, thanks also to its newest dual-band OcuSync transmission system (2.4-5.8 GHz): the same as the OcuSync Air modules. This change makes it possible to connect the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 with the DJI Goggles without a cable, as is already possible for the Mavic Pro.
4. Not taking the drone's weight and size into account
The propellers of the Phantom 4 Pro V2 are the low-noise 9455 ones, the same as the Platinum version of the Mavic Pro: thanks to this technical innovation it is possible to carry out drone surveys with noise that is 60% lower, with a weight of just 1375 grams.
5. Not taking into account the features of the drone to buy
The range of drones available on the market is so vast as to be bewildering.
However, if you want to earn money with drones, it is best to focus from the start on those with the best technical features.
Among them, the Mavic 2 drone, for example, uses a powerful 1" CMOS sensor.
This guarantees better image quality, offering superior performance in terms of both light and color.
Its innovative L1D-20c camera has a lens with adjustable aperture for greater control of light. Hasselblad's exclusive HNCS technology then makes it possible to capture extremely detailed 20-megapixel aerial images.
