5 ways to make your summer footage sensational

Published on 2 min read By AerialClick

Summer is the best season for taking unforgettable photos and videos

Taking a striking photo or video is not easy... doing it in summer takes skill, knowing how to "seize the moment" and... having the right tools!

In this very season, in fact, thanks to the lengthening days, the various shades of green that strike our eyes and the intense blue of the sea, taking sensational photos and videos is almost a must... also as a report for the whole year to come.

Why is it necessary to make striking videos in summer?

As we said before, making summer videos is almost a must... and now we explain why.

Your videos, for example, could be used for edits even when summer is far away (even if perhaps your head is still there), to add a touch of colour and light to footage shot in autumn when the predominant colours are brown and yellow.

Or you could launch a YouTube video with summer footage in spring, when the longing for summer is already felt and you have to plan your next holiday. Travel agency statistics show that a video of an accommodation facility launched in spring attracts much more attention and, as a result, increases the number of bookings. Of course, to do something like this you need to shoot in summer... so you have to work in good time, even up to a year ahead!

5 tips to make your summer footage sensational

Here are a few tips for making great summer footage to then use throughout the year:

  • Consider "neutral" areas and shoot aerial footage, perhaps using a certified drone. For example, you could shoot a video from above of a rocky coast or a villa full of flowers and colourful plants. It will help you when you have to edit videos where the main theme is nature
  • Organise your videos on your PC by "colours" or "geographic areas": it will help you in autumn to find the ideal video to be edited together with other footage without wasting too much time
  • Take photos of a summer sunset with the sun reflecting on the water. With a telescopic pole it's even easier: the effect is sensational, full of light and colour, and the overall photo is cover-worthy!
  • Don't combine colours that are too warm with colours that are too cold. Summer footage gives an extra touch to our videos, but be careful when editing everything together: the whole must look extremely harmonious
  • Launch promotional videos in early spring. As mentioned, it is in this season that summer holidays are organised and hoteliers plan the summer season. Having summer footage would be like having an ace up your sleeve to show a client!

And you? When do you shoot your footage? Until the next flight!
