Taking great photos is easier than ever, but standing out from the crowd is harder than ever. Ideas on how to 'make it'.
Being a successful photographer today is harder and harder. The competition is fierce, and to stand out skill alone isn't enough… you need originality!
Originality in the kind of photos you take, in how you win over clients… originality in using new tools to capture unforgettable moments.
Who is the successful photographer today?
In the past, taking photographs was considered an art. The best photographers years ago developed their photos in purpose-built darkrooms. Others, when photo-editing software didn't exist, corrected photos directly in the darkroom.
Today, fortunately, that's no longer the case! Thanks to the advances of technology, taking noteworthy photographs is much simpler, faster and more intuitive.
Despite this, being a successful photographer is harder and harder.
Today the successful photographer is a dynamic person, always keeping up with the times, constantly updated on new technologies and on the new gems that can make photos and videos unique.
Here are the 5 tools you can't be without to be a successful photographer
Today, if you want to be a successful photographer, there are some tools you can't do without that would make your services unique. Besides a good camera (naturally a reflex), the tools you really need to be a successful photographer are:
- A good photo-editing program, even one that isn't overly expensive. On the market, leaving Photoshop at the top of the podium, there are valid tools worth mentioning. We have tried, for example, Gimp (freeware), used by many as a valid alternative to Photoshop, and Lightroom, a “basic” version of Photoshop but very powerful in managing images, especially when working with thousands of photos.
- A GoPro, to take photos and videos with “fisheye” effects in under 50 grams of weight. An indispensable tool to enrich an album with out-of-the-ordinary photos!
- A good tripod, to take steady photos even in low light. It is very important to have a sufficiently rigid tripod with a spirit level so you can take photos well aligned with the ground.
- A telescopic monopod, or telescopic pole, able to take photos from a height of 5 metres while controlling the reflex camera mounted on top from the ground. You can do this thanks to the MagicPole, a monopod about 5 metres high (1.8 closed), extremely light and easy to carry even in a compact car.
- A drone for aerial footage. With a drone you can take photos and videos from above worthy of an Oscar-winning film. All with a compact model that is easy to carry and can be flown in complete safety. But beware of the upcoming ENAC regulations!
