Position, Parachute, Project. Simple tips for those who are new to flying drones.
Drones are tools as innovative and interesting as they are dangerous, especially when used by beginners. This article is written specifically for them!
There are various ways to make radio-controlled flight safe, but for those approaching it for the first time or who have only recently got a quadcopter, there are three important elements to consider before learning even more sophisticated safety methods. Let's look at them together:
Before getting to complex topics such as motor type, propeller type, materials and assembly, every novice drone pilot must know that there are rules imposed by ENAC on the areas where a quadcopter may fly, and on what to do and how to do it if you need to fly over crowded areas.
If we are just starting out, we should always choose open, low-traffic areas such as clearings, beaches outside the summer season, etc. We will be calmer when performing manoeuvres, we will learn to split our gaze between the remote controller and the aerial evolutions of our aircraft, and we will improve our reflexes, a key point in the whole flight safety process.
Fitting a parachute is the foundation of prudence! It is an essential item that must not be missing, not only for our safety and that of others... but also for the machine we have purchased.
But not all parachutes are the same! Those called MARS are today the best solution because they are equipped with a spring for rapid deployment, they are easy to connect to the drone and they can be triggered remotely.
Whether you bought your drone for professional purposes and to provide a better service to your clients, or as a hobby and out of a personal passion for aerial filming or flying, it is important to always remember that drones are not toys (otherwise ENAC would not have bothered to draw up a proper regulation on the subject!). That is why it is important to turn to specialised companies, who can recommend the machine best suited to your purpose and follow you step by step in the maintenance and checking of safety systems.
