In an increasingly complex operational environment, technology and rapid response have become key factors in ensuring public safety. Among the tools that are revolutionising the daily work of law enforcement, drones are establishing themselves as true strategic allies. Used for surveillance of sensitive areas, real-time monitoring or intervention in critical situations, these systems offer tangible advantages in the field.
The adoption of RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) makes it possible to reduce response times, increase safety for operators and gather essential information quickly and accurately. It is not just a matter of observing from above: drones can be integrated into intervention protocols, becoming fully operational tools.
For all this to be truly effective, it is necessary to know the available technologies in depth, understand the application scenarios and follow specific training paths. Owning a drone is not enough: you need to know how to use it responsibly, in line with the real needs of public safety activities.
The 1st Open Day "Drones for Security", to be held on 14 June 2025 at the Angelo D’Arrigo Airfield in Calatabiano, was created with precisely this goal: to offer a day of in-depth learning entirely dedicated to the professional use of drones by law enforcement.
During the event, the different types of drones that can be used in operations will be presented, from multicopters to VTOLs, with concrete examples of how to deploy them in surveillance, search, patrol and monitoring missions. You will be able to explore the main technological solutions on the market, talk with industry experts and attend practical demonstrations in the field.
Plenty of space will also be devoted to training, with a practical focus on how to navigate the various available paths. During the event we will clarify which training path to take based on the operational needs of law enforcement and the scenarios in which drones will be used, explaining the differences between the Open (A1, A2, A3) and Specific (STS, SORA) categories and the requirements for each.
The event will end with a Q&A session and a special final prize draw: one of the participants could win a DJI Neo!
Admission is free and open to all interested law enforcement personnel. If you would like to take part, simply register through the link below: we will be happy to welcome you!
