The 3 best drones for taking photos today

The advent of drones has given rise to a new activity: aerial photography.

While photos and videos used to be shot from a helicopter, with all the limitations that entails, today it is possible to achieve amazing results using remotely piloted radio-controlled aircraft.

Until not long ago this was unthinkable, or at least impossible: today, however, these tools have rightfully and dramatically changed the field of aerial video filming, finding wide application in many different civil activities.

From mere aerial photography for recreational and professional use, we have moved on to land monitoring, agricultural monitoring, and more.

However, not all drones offer the same performance or have the same technical features. Some devices are better suited than others, at least when it comes to aerial photography.

We would like to review the models that, not only in our opinion but also in the opinion of millions of users worldwide, are proving to be the best in terms of performance.

1. Flawless drone photos with Mavic 2

Aerial photography changes its face with Mavic 2, the flagship of the sector, extraordinary for taking wonderful 20-megapixel aerial photos with stunning colours.

Thanks to its brand-new sensor, this device has an area four times more effective than the original base Mavic model: this plus translates into better performance that can be achieved even in poorly lit environments with a much wider ISO range.

Suffice it to say that the system records over 1 billion colours, preserving even the finest details in both bright light and shadow.

In terms of colour, Mavic 2 offers a significantly higher dynamic range, providing greater flexibility, particularly in post-production.

With this device it is truly possible to capture drone photos with the subtlest nuances at any time of day, from sunset to dawn, even when shooting in low-light conditions.

2. The best of aerial filming with Inspire 2 Combo

Among the best solutions for highly professional cinematic filming is certainly Inspire 2 Combo, which, among its many features and functions, also lets you swap between different cameras and many different lenses according to your actual needs.

This possibility makes every shooting experience more versatile.

Aerial filming can take place easily in all possible conditions, even the most adverse in terms of weather.

3. Mavic Mini: aerial photography with a small, lightweight drone

DJI Mavic Mini is one of the smallest and lightest drones the world of aerial photography has ever known.

This device is certainly less powerful than the others, but it packs all of DJI's technology into an extremely easy-to-use version, even for those who have not yet gained much experience in the field.

It comes with spare propellers, remote controller, second battery, carrying bag and many other charging accessories. Thanks to its powerful built-in camera, stabilised on three axes, this drone takes beautiful 12MP photos and records 2.7K video.

This is why it remains one of the most impressive: 249 grams of fine technology for amazing results.

Digital photography today means offering unique views that no one could otherwise experience with their own eyes. It means capturing unconventional vantage points, effects and glimmers never seen before, with unmatched sharpness.

Choosing the drones reviewed here makes it possible to do all this simply, intuitively, within easy reach and without complications, working quickly with different focal lengths.
