Aerialclick loves telescopic poles! Fibreglass poles for shots from unusual angles and for aerial photos were our first flagship product and we have never moved away from them, for several reasons.
Many photographers have come to love this tool and to consider it indispensable in their kit, and it is not hard to understand why. Here are the reasons, briefly.
A telescopic pole is a compact and lightweight tool; Aerialclick poles are 120-180 cm long when closed (depending on the model) and can be carried over the shoulder thanks to a dedicated carry bag and their weight, which does not exceed 2.3 kg.
They are easy to set up, can be extended in a few seconds and locked in place so you can prepare your shot from above using the remote control.
Their fibreglass structure means they can be handled easily by anyone.
Among photographic equipment, telescopic poles are undoubtedly inexpensive, especially compared with the number of shots they let you take while comfortably controlling the framing of your DSLR from the remote control.
Another feature not to be underestimated when adding up the costs related to these tools is that, by using a telescopic pole for a shot from above, you do not need to request (and pay for) permits and authorisations for occupying public land, as was the case with cranes and jibs.
Among aerial photography tools, telescopic poles are undoubtedly the least problematic when it comes to transport and physical handling.
As we have already said, taking a drone on board a flight can be complicated, and using it abroad is even more so, since the regulations in force are always different from ours.
Of course, with a telescopic pole you cannot do the same things you could do with a drone, but your landscape shots from privileged positions (up to 5 metres, making the most of the vertical reach if necessary thanks to the tilting head) can be taken without any problem, anywhere.

Let us stress this small but fundamental detail: unlike any other tool or piece of equipment for aerial photography (crane, jib, dolly, drone), a telescopic pole requires no permits to be used. The drone, on the other hand, also needs insurance, a licence and constant updates on ENAC regulations.
For those who work in aerial photography, all these permits and regulations are the ABC, but sometimes it is essential to ask yourself whether, for certain types of shots and jobs, it might be worth "relaxing" a little and working with other tools, among which the telescopic pole always comes up.

Telescopic poles are ideal for promotional images of interiors and real estate, among the most lucrative areas of aerial photography, along with wedding photos, where poles cause far fewer problems than drones in terms of authorisation to fly in critical areas (not to mention the fact that you cannot fly over gatherings of people).
Many photographers also use telescopic poles for portraits, with remarkable success in terms of the expressiveness and emotion that can be conveyed through a single shot.
