Beaches seen from above: where would you go?

Art, surveying, tourism, environmental protection: the world is a mosaic of coastlines and bathers waiting to be captured!

There are many reasons why it is interesting to photograph a coastline from above: for promotion, for artistic purposes, for informational and technical purposes, and to allow tourists and bathers to decide where and when to go to avoid the August "crowds" or to choose the cleanest sea, as TripAdvisor recently began to do with the help of its users.

Let's take, together, in this mid-August week, a quick tour of the most beautiful beaches and coasts in the world filmed from above, each with a different purpose.

Colourful anthills

Let's start with the shots by Gray Malin, an American photographer, who chose the more expensive method compared to using a certified drone (from behind the door of a helicopter) to portray spectacular shorelines. The common feature of all the shots? The presence of people, either neatly lined up or 'free' bathers. Here are the images of Bondi Beach, Cogee Beach and Santa Monica.

Fifty shades of pink

We at Aerialclick were stunned by the beauty and uniqueness of the aerial views of Hutt Lagoon, an expanse of salt water – in a thousand shades of pink – in Western Australia, captured by a photographer named Black, in love not only with colours but also with geometry. They know something about it in Sardinia, Sicily and Calabria, as several photos around the web show you, taken neither by professional photographers nor by coastal survey technicians, but by users of travel sites, with the simple aim of mapping from the ground up the most beautiful spots for bathers.
