Tech gifts: how to use them to find or improve your job?

For the first year in an entire decade, smartphones were not the hottest tech gift!

A brand-new and much sought-after item under the tree: drones too, given mostly, to tell the truth, to very young boys and girls (some models are even sold in toy stores).

A very fun way to experience the thrill of a short flight in your own garden and to take the first aerial photos of your life, but not beyond your own backyard (in the hope that the parents, grandparents and uncles and aunts of our little new pilots know that flying a small drone not certified by ENAC, especially in populated areas, is illegal and can cause damage to property and people).

But let's see which tech gifts were the most popular this Christmas and how to use them for work too (to find a job or to improve the one you have).

1 - GoPro

These mini cameras, handy and extremely light, can easily be used for a great many work purposes, especially those related to communication and visual media.
They can be very useful for journalists who produce short reports and interviews to be sent quickly to the newsroom, thanks to the satisfying resolution and the light weight of the output files.
A professional result and ease of use make small GoPro cameras very well suited, above all, to directing and mapping work carried out with drones.

2 - Drones

And indeed, let's get back to them! A GoPro and a drone are an explosive combination for working well and even better in countless fields: from journalism to mapping, from agriculture to professional photography and filmmaking.
But if you received a drone as a gift, there is something else you can and must do in order to work with it: enrol in a course for piloting certified drones (SAPR course), because without it you cannot enter into professional agreements and you risk penalties.
There are several across Italy, but the best ones are those that, besides explaining how these machines work and how to fly them, can also explain national law regarding their use. 3 - Reflex and cameras

Sales of Reflex cameras continue, albeit somewhat down compared to the past 5 years, partly because of market saturation. In fact, a vintage trend has also emerged, a sort of return to the past especially among enthusiasts and connoisseurs. Many photography lovers found under their tree Holga cameras, manufactured in Hong Kong in the early 1980s, very inexpensive, which allow the most creative to take shots with superimposed effects and distinctive colours, suited to those with an excess of imagination but also good manual skills.
For a photographer, using one of these old (and very inexpensive) cameras for an exhibition, a demonstration or a real contest can be an idea to creatively grow your contacts and get yourself known. Sometimes, tradition is the real novelty!
